An Overly Overdue Gift Review: KISMET by MM Gimena

Summary:

KisMet.

A love so honest and sincere that I could seemingly touch and feel every single scene and moment of the book.

Told from the first person point-of-view, the story started with one of the main characters, holding her authenticated documents for abroad. Where could she be headed? It was never stated in the book. Then the story flowed to a description of her present condition that is seemingly superficial then shifting to a flashback of something real in her life: Randel. Through the proceeding chapters were accounts of when and how it all started. Randel was her college classmate - carefree, charming and a lover boy. He courted her for a year and they went through a lot before they finally became a couple. For years they journeyed together all throughout college, board examinations and career. They were going strong. But amidst the zenith of love came a big decision that Randel and MM have to face. A decision that will entirely change their lives forever.

KisMet paints a story filled with possibilities: two very different world - much more different than Venus and Neptune - could "fall right into place" in love. But what happens when a black hole such as distance and time comes in between these worlds? Is love strong enough to hold on or fight destiny?

About The Author:

MM Gimena and I started out as college seatmates. She is currently a Special Education Teacher at her birthplace in the southern part of the Philippines. She usually makes essays and poems where she can pour out her thoughts and emotions. Being a very close friend of mine, she spontaneously informed me that she found herself digging through the laptop keys as she finally found the words to make a book out of the story that she's been longing to tell the world. This is the first book she has ever happily made. After almost exactly five years after she started to fall in love, KisMet came to life.

My Review:

What I love about this masterpiece is the honesty of the writer. I almost could see and feel the scenes as if I was the author herself. She has succeeded in capturing the audience's emotions and attention. There was not a single boring moment while reading the entire book in one sitting!

I was stricken by the uniqueness that some parts of the book - especially the dialogues - are written in Bisaya dialect in order to preserve the ambiance of the memory. To tell you honestly, I have heard the story for over twenty times already but when I read the book, I was giggling so much over the dialogues. And even when I read it again, I still feel kilig to the bones! The Bisaya pick-up lines from Randel always seem to get the fascination of BisDaks(People who spoke Bisaya since birth) like me.

KisMet was also very well written, so organized just like I have known MM. The details were so incredibly clear that she has drawn the picture from her every memory and transformed them to words successfully.

Babygirl! ♥
Kudos to MM Gimena for KisMet! I know how you went through while writing the book! I am eagerly anticipating for a sequel which I am sure will happen VERY SOON! :)

Don't forget how BIG you're blessed!
